Room for Health Practitioner/Bodyworker

Beginning in September we will have space available for someone in the bodywork or health fields to practice. Would you, or someone you know, be a good fit and love to join us?

The person will set their own hours and be their own boss, simply paying rent for use of the space. We are open to massage, acupuncture, physical therapy, nutrition, and other types of health practitioners.

For more information, please contact us via email by replying to this newsletter.

Fab Ferments Tap Room

Take an opportunity to visit the new Fab Ferments Taproom in Lockland. Jordan and Jennifer have been selling their raw, fermented foods at local farmers markets and groceries across the area for 10 years. They recently expanded, opening a taproom with 12 flavors of their raw kombucha on tap. Customers can also purchase their raw cultured veggies, beet kvass, hot pepper sauce and fermented tonics.

Fermentation preserves the food and creates a number of healthy enzymes and probiotics that are beneficial to your health.  Not only are fermented food and drinks healthy but they are absolutely delicious!

Visit their taproom at 611 Shepard Dr Unit 14, 45215 or find Fab Ferments at many local farmer’s markets including the Hyde Park Farmers Market.

Is Your Salad Still Healthy if the Dressing is Crap?

Even if your salad is filled with healthy vegetables, nuts, seeds and proteins, your choice of dressing could be sabotaging your plan for a healthy meal.  In this article Dr. Axe shares that most commercial salad dressings are made with processed oils, rancid fats and hidden sugars. A healthier alternative would be making your own dressings using healthy oils, tangy fresh citrus and fresh spices.

My favorite pre-made dressing is a local one! The “All Natural Dressing” from The Organic Farm at Bear Creek is phenomenal. My family actually buys it by the case becuase we love it so much!

They are natural, organic, made with good fats, made locally and taste better than anything store-bought. You can purchase these dressings at the Hyde Park Farmers Market or you can order by emailing Jeff and Sandy at [email protected].

Increased Telomere Length and Improvements in Quality of Life, Neck & Back Pain with Chiropractic

A telomere is a sequence of DNA repeated thousands of times at the end of each chromosome. Each time a cell divides the telomere shortens. It is believed that telomere shortening is a factor in aging.

Catecholamine profiles control telomere length. Catecholamines are hormones that release into the bloodstream when a person is stressed.  More catecholamines can shorten the length of telomeres.

This case study from the Journal of Molecular and Genetic Medicine shows “…For the first time, that cervical spinal alignment and posture may be directly related to telomere length (health longevity) and that correction thereof may have a directly related effect on health longevity as represented by telomere length.”

I will caution that this research is simply a case study. We need more research to confirm exactly the potential of what is happening here. Nonetheless, it is fascinating to see the potential for chiropractic to address some physiological mechanisms of aging.
