Family Chiropractic Care
We serve all ages of children and adults at Thrive Chiropractic. We also specialize in care for women during pregnancy. Chiropractic care helps the body function optimally by addressing the changes that stress causes in the body. As physical, mental, and chemical stresses affect us at all ages, chiropractic helps us adapt, grow, and thrive throughout our lives. Optimally functioning nervous systems through chiropractic care help families become healthier and happier.
Chiropractic Care for Babies and Children
Children encounter stress from the very beginning—the birth process itself can cause pressure and poor alignment of the neck and other areas of the spine. Parents may notice their newborn will be uncomfortable in certain positions. Mothers may notice the baby will only breastfeed on one side. The baby may not be able to respond by turning the head fully to each side. These are indicators of subluxation and can be corrected with the chiropractic adjustment.
Young children often suffer from recurring ear infections. When the problem is due to fluid not draining properly through the Eustachian tubes, chiropractic may help. Subluxations, or disturbances of the neurospinal system in the upper neck can tighten the muscles around the Eustachian tube, which prevents fluid from draining. Adjustments relieve pressure on the nerves, which relax the muscles and allow drainage of the fluid through the tube.
Chiropractic Care during Pregnancy
There are unique demands upon a woman’s body during pregnancy. Chiropractic techniques assist both the mom and the baby. Specifically, the Webster technique for intrauterine constraint is designed to allow the baby the best possible birthing position. It is effective when the baby is in a breech presentation. Gentle adjustments to mom’s lower back allow the uterus to relax and increases the chance for the baby to turn naturally.
Women who receive chiropractic care during pregnancy also have shorter labor times and a decreased need for pain medication during labor.
Quality of Life Improvements for Families
- A study of 2,818 chiropractic clients showed improved rankings in overall quality of life, physical state, mental/emotional state, stress evaluation, and life enjoyment. Improvements began as early as 1-3 months into care and improvement continued with no maximum benefit over years of care. JVSR 1997
- Patients noticed fewer limitations physically, less body pain, more vitality, better mental health, fewer restrictions to social events. Chiropractic Research Journal 1998
- Regular use of chiropractic reduced: the need for hospitalization by 60%, pharmaceutical usage by 85%, outpatient surgeries and procedures by 62%, and overall global health care costs by more than 50%. “True Healthcare Reform” by Richard Sarnat, M.D.
- Chiropractic clients have lower healthcare costs and fewer visits to doctors and hospitals. JMPT 1993 & J Am Health Policy 1992.
